Indeterminate

  1. Without specified length. Under the Juvenile Delinquents Act, committal to training school was usually indeterminate, with release occurring when correctional officials believed that the delinquent was rehabilitated or had reached adulthood at the age of twenty-one. The Young Offenders Act and Youth Criminal Justice Act have determinate dispositions or sentences of a specified length, subject to early termination through a review process.
