The manner in which the body processes a substance such as a drug and eventually removes it from the body, and which can be zero order or first order. Zero-order elimination removes the substance at a linear, predictable rate, such as alcohol at 10–20 mgs/100 ml of blood per hour; first-order elimination is the removal in a non-linear manner that is difficult if not impossible to predict, such as THC or cocaine.
