An abusive term used to describe an intellectual property infringement or, sometimes more loosely, any act to which a right-holder objects. An association of computer software manufacturers even calls itself the Canadian Alliance against Software Theft. But intellectual property infringement is not "theft" in Canada because, after the "taking," the right-holder is still left with the "property."
