Integrated technology that allows communi­cation between a vehicle and other objects around it. Most commonly discussed with V2V or V2I, the term encompasses interaction with any other object. It can allow communication of information, which can then be interpreted by either automated or human-controlled systems. Exam­ples include GPS location or other distance-measuring communication to warn of obstacles, such as a vehicle stopped on the roadway; communi­cation with infrastructure, such as traffic lights, to allow responses by the vehicle; or communication with a parking facility, to determine the most efficient solution to finding a parking spot.
