Youth worker

A person appointed by the provincial or territorial government to perform a range of functions in relation to the youth justice system, including preparation of section 40 pre-sentence reports, supervision of youths on probation, and working with youths after release from custody on community or conditional supervision. In some jurisdictions, youth workers (also called probation officers, or colloquially referred to as POs) have caseloads of only youths; in others, they may work with both adult and youth offenders. In some places, youth workers also do social work with non-offender populations.
