R. Ian Hector

R. Ian Hector, MD, FRCPC, MRCP(Lond), MRCPsych, was born in Toronto. He completed medical school and post-graduate training in psychiatry at the University of Toronto. He became the psychiatristin- chief of the Wellesley Hospital, and a consultant in psychiatry to Princess Margaret Hospital and the Clark Institute of Psychiatry. During this period, he was also an associate professor of psychiatry for the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto, and the examiner and chief examiner of psychiatry at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Hector was appointed to the Ontario Review Board, the Physician Payment Review Board, and awarded the Bruno Cormier Award for distinguished service to forensic psychiatry in Canada. He continues to teach postgraduate students with the general practice clerkship program at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie.
