Shirley Van Nuland

Shirley Van Nuland is an associate dean of Education and associate professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. She brings more than twenty-five years of teaching experience to the university gleaned from her roles as teacher and principal in Ontario’s elementary and secondary school systems and as an education officer with the Ontario Ministry of Education. Her work has been recognized through the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching from Nipissing University, the Service Award from the Canadian Association for Foundations of Education (CAFE), and the Publication Award from CAFE. Among the courses Shirley teaches are “Education Law, Policy, and Ethics,” and Foundations of Education. Her research interests include standards of practice, ethical standards, and codes of conduct as these intersect in the lives of teachers and students.
