The most commonly encountered fingerprint impression at crime scenes. This type of impression is invisible to the naked eye and requires some form of development technique to render it visible. These development techniques can include the use of fingerprint powder, chemical treatment, or a light source. Oblique or grazed lighting techniques can assist in visualizing a latent impression prior to the application of any development technique.
