A hearing under section 523.1 of the Criminal Code allowing a judge or justice to respond to an administration of justice offence without additional criminal charges being laid. If a judge or justice is satisfied that the accused failed to comply with some order but did not thereby cause harm, they can cancel the previous document and make a new release order, leave the order in place, or order the accused detained in custody pending trial. No matter which option is chosen, no separate and additional charge can be laid against the accused for the initial violation of conditions.
