An offence that requires the Crown to prove not only a fault or mental element that relates to the performance of the act in question, but some also ulterior intent or purpose. Evidence of intoxication is always relevant when the accused is charged with a specific intent offence and operates as a defence if it raises a reasonable doubt about the existence of the mental element.
