This is the principal legal statute covering all aspects of the sale of goods and secured transactions in the United States. The code originated in the work of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws and the American Law Institute who were charged with creating a uniform sales law for all states to adopt. Since the first edition, published between 1942 and 1952, the code has undergone subsequent revisions, the most recent being in 1990, and has been adopted in all the states of the United States.
