Howard Rubel

Howard Rubel is a senior partner in the law firm of Heller, Rubel and his practice includes all types of criminal litigation. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1985 and practices exclusively in the area of criminal defence litigation. He has been designated a certified specialist in criminal law by the Law Society of Upper Canada each year since 1995. Mr. Rubel taught criminal law for four years at Osgoode Hall and has lectured at other schools and universities. He was an instructor at the Law Society’s bar admission course for fourteen years, and has participated in numerous educational programs of the Canadian Bar Association, The Advocates’ Society, Osgoode Hall’s professional development program, and many other organizations. Mr. Rubel has appeared before special committees of the Ontario Legislature on criminal justice issues, has been a consultant to the Law Reform Commission, and has contributed to a number of texts on criminal law and procedure.
