Neil Conacher

Neil Conacher, born in Tanzania, graduated in medicine at Dundee University, Scotland, 1978. He gained his MRCPsych while a resident in psychiatry at the Ryadh-Al-Kharj Hospital in Saudi Arabia. After a year in neuropathology at the Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia, he was recruited by Correctional Services Canada, in 1986, for the Regional Treatment Centre (Ontario) inside Kingston Penitentiary. The work of this one hundred-bed hospital is described in his book, Management of the Mentally Disordered Offender in Prisons (Montreal: McGill-Queen’s University Press, 1995).
