Scott Theriault

Scott Theriault is currently the clinical director for the Department of Psychiatry, Capital District Health Authority in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dr. Theriault is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University. A native Nova Scotian, Dr. Theriault completed his undergraduate and medical studies at Dalhousie University and completed residency training in psychiatry in 1991. After several years in general psychiatric practice, Dr. Theriault completed a fellowship in forensic and correctional psychiatry at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, in 1998, before returning to Halifax. Dr. Theriault is active in the area of international psychiatry and has been involved in several projects in the Caribbean; his interest in this area has led him to completing a diploma program in international human rights and mental health through the WHO. Dr. Theriault’s other interests include the assessment of risk in offenders, mental health legislation, the rehabilitation of the mentally ill offender, and the implementation of models of psychosocial rehabilitation.
